Millimeter Ruler Online

Small-object measuring tips

When measuring small items like screws, rings, or seeds, precision is key. Here are some tips:

  • Calibrate carefully: Even a slight error in calibration can result in noticeable differences when measuring small objects. Always use a standard reference.
  • Close one eye: To avoid parallax error (where the angle of your view distorts the alignment), close one eye and look straight down at the object and screen.
  • Use guides: Drop a guide line on both edges of the object to get a precise reading in mm.

Precision limits of screen rulers

While screen rulers are highly accurate, their ultimate precision is limited by your screen's pixel density. For sub-millimeter precision, use a physical micrometer or digital caliper.
